CBJ has some depth on C, but I don't think EDM is going to acquire Johansen or Dubinsky for those offers.

How about Whitney and a 2nd this year and 3rd next year for Fedor Tyutin?

I'm not sure if I am. Dubinsky's top season was 54pts. Hemsky? 77. Huge difference between the two. He's older than Gagner and has only three years left until UFA status, so he's equal to, if not worth less than Sammy.

I'm really not sure what the Oilers could willingly give up to make a deal work. That was the point of the blog.

He's also physical, feisty, solid on faceoffs, and bigger than "Sammy". Also, his highest point total is higher.

The problem with this offer is Whitney is a UFA. If he bails after the season, CBJ gets only a 2nd and 3rd. I doubt CBJ bites, unless they want to get rid of his contract. It will require a roster player or prospect plus pick to get Tyutin.

Who's more likely to get 77 points in a season from now until the end of their career - Dubinsky or Hemsky? Realistically, I'd say a big fat neither. So the skill/previous stats argument is kind of moot imo.

But Dubinsky is bigger, younger, lower cap hit, brings more of what we supposedly need in the short-term and long-term, and if he doesn't work out, we could compliance him. If we were offered Dubinsky for Hemsky I'd take it and run.

Unfortunately, I don't think we get the luxury of acquiring the huge two-way centerman who already puts up 60 points. You get a beat on a guy that's shown potential to become that and worse case scenario, he's a better-than-average 3rd line centre.

I've liked Dubinsky for a while though.

I'm a big fan of Gagner, and I think Gagner is better than Dubinsky at some skills, worse at others. That being said, I'm shocked that Clouts would put Gagner>Dubinsky given how much he's stressed adding a big, mean, functional-toughness, two-way centre over the past 18 months.

I don't even know can Gagner for Dubinsky straight trade is possible. Even though Gagner is doing well, Dubinsky just does things for a team where you can't just grow on trees. I can see Gagner for Anisimov, but that is a big gamble for EDM to take.

Re-reading the blog, I'd say it's the Reider and a 2nd proposal that would have people a little more up in arms than Dubinsky + for Hemsky

If they can't resign him they can always flip him for another pick at the deadline.

If we Anisimov, we can wait until he's a UFA this summer. If the fabled Horcoff buyout occurs, he might be a half-decent replacement.

Recently sent down to find his game. I'd stick with Gagner.

He's worth per say a 3rd maximum based on this blog? CBJ gets 2nd, two 3rd for Tyutin? I'd say only happens if CBJ wants to dump his contract, which I doubt since he leads team scoring.

He's RFA. EDM has to offer sheet the guy.

Oh, my mistake. I probably would neither trade Gagner nor offer-sheet him, but I like him well enough as a player.

How about Dubinsky, and Foligno for Gagner, MPS and a 2nd. Oilers add a ton of grit to their top 6. MPS is certainly expendable and Prospal fills in for Gagner till somebody is ready

Since being Russian, maybe having him and Yakupov can do some good.
